It’s that time of the year again, the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships are less than two months away! The fun starts on January 22nd and goes until the 29th and will take place at 150 West Adams Avenue in Breckenridge.

The event starts off on January 16th with a week of ice block building. Volunteers will create the massive 12-foot tall ice blocks that will be used in the competition. If you’re interested in volunteering, head on over to the official website for more information (https://www.gobreck.com/events/intl-snow-sculpture-championships#horizontalTabEvents5)

During the following week, January 22-26, the competition is on! Watch as these artists take the ice blocks created by volunteers and create amazing pieces of art, sometimes working well into the night.

It’s not just adults who can get in on the fun! On January 27th the Junior Snow Sculpture event will be held, open to children ages 9 and up. They will be creating their own pieces of art with an animal theme.

The best day to view the spectacular show is Thursday, January 25th, when some of the sculptures will already be complete but many artists still working. The award ceremony will be held on Friday, January 26th at 2:00 pm, but if you can’t make it these amazing sculptures will be kept up for viewing until January 29th, weather permitting.
